Sukumar is now working on the script for Pushpa: The Rule, which he plans to release on March 20, 2022, starring Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil. He has two more films lined up after completing the Pushpa sequel, one with Vijay Deverakonda and the other with Ram Charan. We inquired about the director’s plans to helm a Hindi picture.
He says he’d love to do it, but that it all hinges on the perfect script. “I’d love to do a Hindi picture if the opportunity arises.” In fact, several Hindi films have influenced me. All of Amitabh Bachchan’s films enjoyed a large following in Andhra Pradesh’s villages. When I was shooting a film recently, Akshay sir contacted me and asked how I was doing. ‘You must collaborate with me, and you must come to Mumbai.’ So, as soon as I have the correct screenplay, I’ll go to him,” Sukumar says.
The director claims that he doesn’t go after celebrities. “I don’t want to work with anyone in particular from Bollywood because the actor is always chosen by the script.” “However, I’d like to work with Akshay Kumar Garu once,” he says with a smile.
It concerns the rivalry between Pushpa and Shekhawat. When I finished the writing, I thought Pushpa 2 had a lot of potential as a drama. I promise I won’t let you down, and I hope you love the sequel as well.” The film is tentatively scheduled to be released in December of this year, but a lot hinges on the Covid-19 situation.
