RRR Box Office Preview: SS Rajamouli, Jr NTR, and Ram Charan are all set for a global opening of more than Rs 200 crore.

Only one film has ever made more than Rs. 100 crores on its opening day, or any day in India. On its first day in April 2017, Baahubali: The Conclusion grossed over Rs. 135 crores. This weekend, five years later, there will be another, and the same magician will perform the feat. RRR, directed by S.S. Rajamouli, will debut in over 5000 theatres across the country tomorrow and is estimated to gross more than Rs. 100 crores on its first day.
In Telugu states, it’s a question of how much capacity can be built for the day, because whatever capacity is available, the film will be able to sell out the majority of it. Following the latest increase in ticket prices in Nizam, single-day capacity in the region will exceed Rs. 30 crores, twice the previous opening-day record. It has already set a single-day record in Hyderabad city from only pre-sales, with pre-sales totaling Rs. 10 crores so far on the first day. In the city, the final opening day take is likely to be around Rs. 16-18 crores. Similarly, the film is likely to have the largest opening day ever in Andhra Pradesh, surpassing Baahubali 2’s (Rs. 34.40 crores), and might easily surpass Rs. 50 crores in the state.

The Telugu version of the film is likely to do well outside of Telugu states, wherever it is released, but the other versions, whether Tamil, Hindi, or Malayalam, will rely on word of mouth. With the principal actors from two of the industry’s most powerful families and directed by the most powerful director alive, the buzz in Telugu is on another level, maybe matching/exceeding even Baahubali 2. For non-Telugu audiences, the first one isn’t nearly as important, therefore the picture will rely heavily on the reception, especially after the opening day.

RRR is expected to gross approximately Rs. 120-130 crores on its opening day in India, with approximately Rs. 80 crores coming from Telugu states of AP/TS, according to Pinkvilla. The film faces a significant challenge in keeping its investors secure, particularly outside of Telugu regions. The film’s overseas opening day expectations are between $8.50 and $10 million (Rs. 65-75 crores), with over 2300 locations worldwide.
